"For All Your Funky Needs"

The Return Of Randy Dynamite is now!

Photo: Jay Blakesberg

With the release of the self- produced "The Return Of Randy Dynamite. Randy looks to move forward in the instrumental music arena. "I have always done instrumental songs as part of the Boneshakers tapestry and this move seemed a natural progression says Jacobs". On his last CD "From Me To You" (2005) co-produced with Jon Gilutin. The two were about making a comtemporary jazz/funk CD but with this one Randy wanted to go back to a time when I was more about inspiration and less about genre's. "I have never been more happy with a project. Playing the music straight up with no loops and minimal overdubs makes it so much more real for me, looking into the eyes of my band mates and communicating as opposed to adding one part at a time is much more inspiring". The band comprises Gregg Bisonnette (Drums), JV Collier (Bass), Jon Gilutin (Keys), Lenny Castro (Percussion) plus, Teddy Zig Zag on harmonica, Rick Braun on trumpet, saxmen Shilts, Bill Bregman and Jimmy Roberts. A new website is coming soon along with a video.

"From Me To You is a genuine diamond.Discoveries like this come few and are far between" - Abyss Jazz

"As deep as this album is cut for cut, the listener will get the impression that for Jacobs, a memorable smooth jazz collection like this is just scratching the surface of his creative capabilities"

- Smooth Jazz News

It's unanimous... We're all in agreement here at Smoothjazz.com, FROM ME TO YOU is one of the finest recordings we've ever heard from an independent artist. Randy Jacobs is an "indie," but he's a major dude for sure.

Amplifier: Modified Fender Princeton

Purchased: 1978

Vendor: Gus Zoppi Music

Nickname: Old Faithful

Model: Fender Princeton

Modifications: Bruce Egnater 1984

BackStory:

I decided to experiment with an old Blackface Princeton Reverb combo I had owned for quite a while. It had been damaged and was inoperable for a long time so I took it to Bruce (Amp God) Eganater and asked him if he would fix it but beef the power and add a master. What I got back was a 30 watt work horse head. It has that cool tube compression and can be super clean or get a sweet crunch. Bruce has made many modified amps for me but this one is golden.
